New Division

As some may know, we have started a new division: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. MXUzi and The Earl of Trellheim are starting to recruit members so if you see any on, make sure you say hi to them and make them feel welcome. Those of you who don't have the game and are interested in getting it, ask MXUzi or The Earl and we will tell you about it and our opinions of it. You never know until you try it :P



Jordan

As some of us already know, our beloved member Jordan has been deployed to Iraq. He will still be coming on the site every once and awhile, so when you see him, make sure he knows he is still loved and missed. Good luck out there Jordan!!!

ROSE Update

There have been a lot of controversial changes added to R.O.S.E. lately. First of all, Orlo is finally here!!! Gravity Interactive has announced that Orlo will be released in three stages, and the first one has been released. In order to get to Orlo, you will have to select your fate (Arua or Hebarn) and do a few quests in order to activate the Orlean Portal.

The damage system has been significantly changed. You are no longer able to one-hit-kill mobs. Defense and dodge are still a little glitchy and need a few adjustments, but experience rates have been reduced by a lot. The best place is no longer the ruins, and it is a tie between Orlo and the Sikuku Prison. Quests now give more experience as well, and the new experience system gives an incentive to be doing the quests.

The level cap has been changed to level 215, so get out there and start leveling your now not-max-level characters and get more stat and skill points.

The stat cap has been increased to 400 instead of the previous 300. This gives everyone a chance to create their own special builds, so start trying to figure out what works best.

Teamspeak 3

The long awaited successor to Teamspeak 2 has finally arrived. Teamspeak 3 has many improvements over its predecessors: file transfer, 3D sound, instant messaging,better codecs, improved administration options, and a customizable interface to name a few.

ONE has switched Teamspeak 3 as of January 14, 2010!

Tutorials

3rd and Deadi have recently recorded a tutorial on how to turn on microphone boost both for XP and Vista. Hopefully, there will be many more to come. There is at least one more that has already been recorded but has not yet been compiled. Feel free to comment here.



ROSE Events

There are some very exciting things going on this summer in the R.O.S.E. Online (download, register, video1, video2) community.

Some of the summer events and updates are summarized here. First, foremost, and most recent is the 2009 Summer Event which ends on September 1st. Spend zulie in games of chance to win tickets. These tickets are then traded in for some very impressive MP/HP regen items as well as some nice equipment. The event is in the Sunshine Coast which is accessed by the portal in the northwest corner of the Canyon City of Zant.

The good ol' devs at ROSE Online have also struck up a deal that will allow us to gain item mall points without spending real money. This is generally done by filling out surveys and/or giving out your contact information. For more information, click here. Please be wary of this though. Never give out your credit card number, social security number, or any other piece of information outside of contact information. For more info on identity theft, click here. There is a much safer way to get item mall points from the people at Playspan with only an email address. Find out more here.

Also, ROSE released its ROSE Community Myspace page. Most importantly, this page reveals the dates for the Happy Hour events. During these events, there is either double items drops, double zulie drops, or double experience. See the dates here.

ROSE also just wrapped up a song creation competition using MusicShake. MusicShake is a very unique song creation program which allows the user to build songs using pre-created music clips. The selected song will be the background music for Sunshine Coast for the next year. Although submissions are over, we anxiously await the results. To listen to the submissions, click here.

3. Castle Gear Event - This event consisted of 5 action-packed mini-events for the grand prize of a castle gear. The first mini-event was a race to finish the castle gear quest in teams of 2. Third won this round. The second mini-event was a double-elimination castle gear PvP tournament. Vuu won this round. The third mini-event was a cart race around dolphin island. Deadi won this round. The fourth mini-event was a quiz regarding Jordan ingame and out. Rock won this round. The fifth event was a tie-breaker PvP match between Vuu and Deadi. 4. Screenshot Giveaway - For this event, the person who submits the coolest screenshot (Photoshopped or otherwise) wins a grade 7 gem of his/her choice.

5. Jingleballs (active) - This event is to help Jingeballs (airborne42) get to level 210. The winner will be selected by Airborne when he reaches 210. Prizes will vary depending upon the winner.

Crossfire News

Crossfire is no longer under the gaming umbrella that was Subagames. Whether Subagames was purchased or dissolved, I do not know. However, Cross fire is now owned and operated by Z8Games. Nothing noticeable has changed with the exception of some downtime due to the transition. For official information, click here.

• Earl of Trellheim couldn't think of a single thing to be put up here.

• Willis stopped being lazy and got a job.

A bunch of big sequels and big shot games are aiming for the spotlight in the next year, between Dragon Age: Origins (video), the new RPG from BioWare, Assassin's Creed 2 (video), Dante's Inferno (video), Mass Effect 2 (video), and Modern Warfare 2 (video), this fall and winter are stuffed full of the next games with graphics and storylines so good, they can only make you squeal with fanboy delight.

But the big contenders for being the next best thing are the MMOs. Between a promise of a new WoW expansion (video), Guild Wars 2's (video) looming rumors of a 2010 release, Diablo 3 (video), Champions Online (video), and the galactic terror of The Old Republic (video), you have to wonder "When will they put more hours in the day for my MMOs?" Most people expect the biggest MMO release success to be Diablo 3 and Old Republic, but then Guild Wars 2 promises not to be left out of the running with it's oath to remain Free To Play, and with a lot of people starting to keep a firmer grip on their money, along with Guild Wars original (video1,video2,video3,video4) and overwhelming success, all those great Pay To Play's could fall to the sidelines as Guild Wars 2 shows them how to do a MMO all over again.


But of course in the wonderful world of FPS, everyone's eyes are glued to Modern Warfare 2's November launch date. Especially since Modern Warfare 2 appears to be the single best FPS released in years, and Infinity Ward usually likes living up to the fan's expectations, or blowing them out of the water. But a good many people here at [ONE] seem to not be as excited over this FPS giant's second coming, and I have to wonder why. I mean [ONE] is planning on getting it's own server for Modern Warfare 2, and there have been nearly a dozen people in our humble community saying that they're picking it up the day it comes out, or within the few months after. So why isn't this feeling infective? Is it lack of experience for the first game? Or simply thinking we're a bunch of idiotic fanboys? Either way, I have a standing tantalizing promise of, after getting a job, putting the first paycheck or two into around half a dozen copies of Modern Warfare 2 for the PC. And if the promise of our own server and a chance to win a free copy of Modern Warfare 2 doesn't get you excited for everything, I'm not sure what will.

They have reached the awesome rank of 275!! Make sure to congratulate the Crossfire members for their hard work of keeping us up in the top 300 and hopefully in the top 200 soon enough!
